Day 168

Venice
6.00 am
when the water is liquid dawn
and the city reveals its porcelain canvas
to the morning light

Waking up so early is worthy
not only for poetical reasons :
in the early hours the city sees a specific
tourism,
that of joggers and runners.
Although it is difficult to imagine the Serenissima
as an athletic field
a good session is what makes "sportourists" from all over the world
set their alarm clocks at unadvisable hours.
In fact, the itinerary that goes from San Marco,
all the way along Riva dei Schiavoni,
until Giardini and Sant'Elena
is a 7 km route naturally provided with step workout
up and down bridges.
Early morning is nevertheless a forced choice :
later on crowds of tourists,
heat,
pigeons and street selller
will make your itinerary much harder
and certainly annoying.

In case you were looking for alternatives,
here are some blogs about the topic :

Enjoy
and take a rest observing the light
changing
and toning the city
from the cold light blue at 6 am
to warmer colors as the time pass by

until the full light at 830 will flood
San Marco
where the itinerary ends.
